Watercolor Paintings
| |
Watercolor was my original passion and remains my favorite medium. I love the fact that the material - the paint, the type of paper, the water - retains a certain amount of control beyond me. Happy accidents happen! I use various quality watercolor papers, sometimes mix in rice paper for fun, and I've come to really enjoy the challenge of painting water media on treated canvas.

Lean on Me
 |
This new watercolor, completed February, 2008, is inspired by a very old barn next to a very old oak tree, that I pass whenever I drive down into the Valley. It's my hope to someday "rescue" the barn, tear it down, and re-build it where I live. Meanwhile, I painted it. I love how the barn and tree seemed to have grown together over the decades.
15 X 22; unframed; can be shipped matted or not.

Yokohl Valley Watering Hole
 |
This watercolor on canvas was inspired by a scene in Yokhol Valley seen just after the passing of a winter storm. I love old buildings, and finding an old watering tank was a bonus.
The canvas is 20 x 24. It would look great in a rather rustic frame.

Lunch Beneath the Sycamore
 |
When most people think "California" they don't think farms and ranches, but this area - the great central valley - is a huge agricultural area. So yes, this is a typical scene. Sycamores in winter are fascinating with their white bark and the small branches appearing nearly red. And who can resist one white cow and one black bull?
Image is 15 X 22 and has a 2 1/4" mat, no frame. $475

This my husband's favorite painting, and I've only recently decided to offer it for sale. The painting was finished in 2001 using only a triad of primaries - red, blue, yellow - and created from a mix of reality and imagined. It's one of my many paintings featuring things old and weathered. Framed size is 16 1/2 x 20 1/2 x 1 1/4. Image size is 10 X 12, and it's on watercolor paper. It is framed in wood with a bit of an aged look and is double matted. Glass will be removed prior to shipping. $525
